Whatsapp to Get merged with Facebook and Messenger| Evidence Suggests

Facebook is working on Whatsapp-Messenger Integration

On 2019, Facebook was in news when Mark Zuckerberg facebook CEO made plans to integrate social media platforms owned by facebook i.e. Whatsapp,facebook and Instagram.The Apps will be different as it is now but their underlying infrastructure will be same , this will have more than 2.6 Billion users under facebook as a whole.This raises questions since facebook has always been accused of privacy and security issues.Here is a link to New York Times article for more details.

It has been more than a year now but today we came across evidence of Whatsapp-Messenger integration and it has progressed towards that.According to WABetaInfo a few hints have been appeared in facebook messenger which reveals how Facebook is working to make a cross-platform integration for users.

    

WABetaInfo Reports that Developer Alessandro Paluzzi informed the tipster about facebook working on the integration.The developer found some references about this integration,like creation of tables in a local database,in order to manage messages and services with other Whatsapp Users.The code also shows that facebook messenger could know about which Whatsapp contacts are blocked and have access to phone  numbers of users, profile pictures and members of Whatsapp Group.But the Whatsapp messages will not be accessible but the code for a local database is in works.

Similarly Instagram is also working on integration with Messenger as the tweet by developer suggests

But this is very early stage to comment upon how facebook will integrate messenger with Whatsapp since both platforms work differently.But the question is what is the need? Since Whatsapp is still very personal social media unlike others and data privacy is questionable.
