We have been always facing ads be it on any website ,YouTube ,facebook and literally everywhere. So we might see ads in future and they will be based on your facebook data.Earlier there were reports of ads coming up in Whatsapp. The plans were to show ads in user's conversation but later abandoned as Wall Street Journal reported.
But facebook did not scrap the plan and is planning to add Ads to Whatsapp Status aka Stories and Instagram which is also owned by facebook has this feature. Everything was silent until the new Report by The Information that facebook plan to sell ads on Whatsapp is still on. According to the Report it is planning to use phone numbers to match up your account and create a single pool of data to show specific ads on all services.
A facebook spokesperson told to Engadget that "ads in Whatsapp remains long-term opportunity for Whatsapp". So we might see ads in distant future if not soon.
